Welcome to Truro's state-of-the-art music lesson centre located at 188 Robie Street. We are proud to offer 6 well equipped lesson studios, 2 large group lesson studios, and Truro's finest faculty of independent music teachers. If you've ever aspired to learn a musical instrument, this is the place for you! Whether you want to take guitar lessons, piano lessons, or perhaps always wanted to sing, whatever your choice, our music teachers are here to help you on your journey. Sarah Glinz
Sarah is thrilled to be giving back to the to the music community where she grew up as Lessons Coordinator here at Long & McQuade. With a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a Bachelor of Music Education, Sarah has been an avid music educator for the past 10 years teaching private vocal and piano lessons, directing local children's choirs, and as music director of the Marigold Spotlight Youth Theatre program.
In her spare time Sarah performs with her music group Brigid, and is a busy mom to her three wonderful children. As both an educator and a parent, she knows how much of an impact music can make in a child's life and is passionate about sharing the gift of music with others!

With folk-pop song writing roots, a jazz harmony influence merged into a rock n’ roll edge- Cal Johnson, or formally known as Caleb Johnson is a 2 time Music Nova Scotia award nominated, multi instrumentalist & singer-songwriter. No stranger to the scene, Johnson has had the pleasure of composing for Ondinnok, a theatre project in Montreal (2020), debuting solo live on Global News Halifax (2018) as well as performing with “The Blue Lane” at Halifax's TD Jazz Festival (2016), Bell FibeOP's "Club One New Releases" and CTV’s Breakfast Television (2016). Along with these experiences, Johnson has also obtained a diploma in music arts and has been privileged to attend private songwriting workshops under the instruction of East coast artists such as Matt Anderson, Thom Swift and Christine Campbell.
Today, Johnson is currently based out of Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, performing with his new indie blues-rock group “Cal Johnson & The Former Cause.” You can find his debut solo EP “Come and Go” on all digital streaming platforms. Cal's rate is $25 per 1/2 hour private lesson.

Craig Wood is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele) with influences that range from country, jazz, rock and folk to musical theatre. After working professionally in his late teens as a Las Vegas performer, he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and founded the eclectic rock group “Papa Bears” before becoming a national CBC Radio Variety Producer for the west coast, including the network jazz show “Jazzland”. As a professional musician and musical theatre performer, he has appeared at the Royal Alex in Toronto, the Summerside Theatre in Prince Edward Island, The Arts Club Theatre in Vancouver, CBC Television and NBC. His song-writing and composing abilities garnered him a Number 1 Canadian single (the 1970’s classic “Peter and Lou” by Canadian folksinger, Valdy) as well as film score honors at the Canadian Hot Docs festival in 2006. As a guitar instructor, he has taught private lessons for more than three decades. Craig lives in Great Village, Nova Scotia where he records under the “Paradise Public Radio” label in his home studio. His rate is $24 per 1/2 hour private lesson.

Keith Doiron's career as a professional musician began at the young age of 14, playing major jazz festivals and events as a bass player in the Halifax area, alongside top jazz musicians from Atlantic Canada. That same year he received a scholarship to Humber College.
He is now an accomplished session musician and plays for such acts as Walrus, Postdata and Garrett Mason gaining over a decade of experience performing across Canada and internationally. Keith will release his first album of original music as Verry Gerry Winter 2024. He wrote, produced and played all of the instruments on the entire project. His commitment to excellence and his passion for music continues to inspire his creative, artistic journey. Keith's rate is $26 per 1/2 hour private lesson.

Ryan White is a performer, composer, and arranger who hails from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He plays several instruments including electric bass, guitar, ukulele, drums and auxiliary percussion, piano/synthesizer, kalimba, and voice. He has taken influence from and worked in a wide variety of genres including rock, alternative, pop, folk/indie, classical, jazz, funk/soul, R&B, hip-hop, jazz-fusion, and world music. Ryan graduated from the Dalhousie music program in 2016 and has been performing and teaching professionally ever since. Ryan's rate is $25 per 1/2 hour private lesson.

Mini Musicians "Movers & Shakers" - Beth Terry

Movers & Shakers is a great class for a busy little person! Throughout the 8 weeks, your child will get hands on with rhythm instruments and will be introduced to musical signs and symbols that are used regularly in music. We will sing, dance, and have fun with music! Designed for children age 2-4 years.

Around the World: Travel the globe without leaving the classroom! Your child will discover the wonders of other cultures through their music, instruments, and celebrations! Your child will have a hands-on experience with every instrument, make crafts, sing & dance! Each week we travel to a new country, learning about the music & instruments. How they are make and used. Welcome to The LifeLong Players, a.k.a. "The LPs"! We're a weekly music class for young people in Truro, Nova Scotia. We make music, have fun, and play concerts in the community.
- The LPs is a multi-instrument, multi-age, multi-level ensemble
- Ukuleles, guitars, pianos, recorders and more are welcome.
- Students may select a primary and a secondary instrument. Percussionists are required to have a secondary instrument.
- The minimum age for students in The LPs is 6 years old but there is no maximum age! Parents are encouraged to also register as musicians and to play long with the band.
- The LPs welcomes beginners and experienced players alike. Our lessons and arrangements aim to engage students at the level of challenge appropriate for them.
- 20 sessions, program costs $300 per musician, Oct 16th - Nov 13th, continuing Jan 8th - May 14th.
- Two class options: Wednesdays 3:30pm-4:30pm OR 4:30pm-5:30pm at Long & McQuade (188 Robie St, Truro NS)
Registration limited to 10 musicians.
